May 18-24: Lomi Fundamentals Week Long Intensive Retreat Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Fundamental Training (27 Hours)
In this course the practitioner will learn a full body Lomi Lomi massage technique that addresses muscle imbalances, limited range of motion and musculoskeletal dysfunction that is both specific and therapeutic in it’s application. This course is the foundational work upon which all other Lomi classes being taught at Hale Ho’omana will build. This approach follows in the lineage of Big Island Style Lomi intended to instill a level of skill necessary for proper assessment, palpation, and treatment of injury. Lomi Fundamentals is a multi-dimensional form of structural lomi incorporating concepts of Hawaiian spirituality, meditation techniques, and indigenous values addressing the whole person.
We begin with 3 days of lomi level one, a full body technique. Ho'oponopono (Hawaiian philosophy of spiritual alignment), history of lomi lomi, and ancestral teachings that support this art form enrich our time together. Mid-week, we embark on a ½ day excursion touring sacred energetic sites on the island. On this tour we will be learning about plant medicine, ritual cleansing both at the mountain and the ocean visiting sacred Heiau (Hawaiian Temples).
The last 3 days we learn lomi 'ili. In this style of hot stone therapy, heated implements are used as working stones on the body and are an extension of our hands. We go to a peaceful agricultural valley on the east side where we learn to gather stones ceremonially with a gathering chant. This allows us the incredible opportunity to give back to the community we are gathering from by working in the taro patch there. We close the class on the last day with a Hawaiian awa ceremony and graduation celebration.
We do offer accommodations which are optional. There are kitchens in all of the rooms, so you can all cook together if you wish. You will need to arrange your arrival for the day before class begins, Thursday and your return flight after the evening of the last day of class which is the following Friday.
Courses may be taken individually. Level 1 is a prerequisite for Lomi Ili/Hot Stone Therapy:
Lomi Fundamentals Intensive (27 Hours). Learn a full body lomi lomi technique intended to address musculosketal imbalances or dysfunction that is both specific and therapeutic in it’s application.
Lomi ‘Illi”ili (Hot Stone Therapy/27 Hours). Incorporate the use of hot stones to relax muscle tissues, increase circulation and release tension in the body. These heated tools act as an extension of the therapist’s hands to administer traditional lomi lomi techniques.

comfortable clothing
a set of long pants and a long sleeve shirt for cool morning
a set of clothing that you don't mind getting dirty in the taro patch
whatever oil/lotion you like to use for massage
journal to write in
bathing suit, sunscreen, hat
an open heart.
Course Registration Fee:
The cost for the week long courses are $1000 plus tax.
Optional Retreat Accomodations:
We do have accommodations available for $45 per night plus tax.
Cancellation Policy:
If for any reason you need to cancel, a 10% fee of the deposited amount will be charged and the remaining portion fully refunded.
Cancellation two weeks before instruction begins, 50% will be refunded or charged.
There is limited space in each class to nurture individualized instruction.
